Political parties were designed to simplify complex ideologies and agendas into groups of like-minded individuals. Since 1776, we have narrowed our ideas into two aggressive groups that you stick with like a football team. You root for your team, you support your team, you help cover the wrongs of your team, and you are fully committed to your team.

(For those of you more like me, who know nothing about football, compare this to your family or another sports team)

Okay, so now we have two teams on the field. Who is going to get the touchdown? Who is going to win the game? What happens if the game ties? What happens if I run into the game and steal the ball from both teams?

The issue with blindly picking a political party like you pick a football team, is we limit all issues to two options. You would have to be pretty naive to believe this world is totally binary. There are typically many options to weigh in life. When we choose one party we take the good and the bad. Instead of trying to take the good from both sides, we ignore the bad on our side for the purpose of beating the other side.

You are not a democrat. Neither are you a republican (or any other political party). First and foremost if you are a christian, you are a child of God. Then secondly, you are a human being. As human beings, we have been created with opinions. We have been created with a sense of right and wrong. In our free country we are able to share our opinions and vote to make a difference. Do not limit your opinions by the party you claim to be a part of.

Fight for what is right. Fight to preserve human life.
